Most people take onemagnesium. There arethree worth taking.
Magnesium supplements are almost always a single salt, chosen because it is cheap. TRI-MAG NIGHT carries three — each selected for what it is actually studied for, in one evening serving.
Three forms, three reasons
Magnesium is not one ingredient. The salt it is bound to changes where it goes and how well you tolerate it. Scroll through what is actually in the bottle.
Bisglycinate
Magnesium chelated to the amino acid glycine. This is the form chosen for comfort — it does not carry the laxative reputation that oxide and citrate have earned. It is bulky and costs more to formulate, which is precisely why cheaper products skip it.
L-Threonate
Developed by researchers at MIT and the only magnesium form specifically studied for crossing the blood-brain barrier. It is the most expensive magnesium on the market by a wide margin, which is why almost nobody includes it. Look at any competitor label and you will not find it.
Taurate
Magnesium bound to taurine, an amino acid concentrated in heart and nervous tissue. The form most often examined in cardiovascular research, and the one that completes the picture rather than repeating what the other two already do.
Descriptions refer to published research on each magnesium form. They are not claims about what this product does — the permitted claims are listed further down.
Where the 200 mg comes from
1,710 mg of raw chelated magnesium across three forms. Each contributes a different share of the elemental total.
The panel, printed
No proprietary blend. Every milligram of every form, and what it works out to as elemental magnesium.
Supplement Facts
| Per serving | %NRV | |
|---|---|---|
| Magnesium (elemental) | 200 mg | 53% |
| from Magnesium Bisglycinate | 1,000 mg | † |
| from Magnesium L-Threonate | 550 mg | † |
| from Magnesium Taurate | 160 mg | † |
† No nutrient reference value established for the individual magnesium salts. %NRV based on 375 mg elemental magnesium.
Other ingredients: hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (vegetarian capsule shell), rice flour, magnesium stearate (vegetable source).
Contains no gluten, dairy, soy, added sugar or artificial colours.
“400 mg magnesium glycinate”
is 56 mg of magnesium.
Bisglycinate is only about 14% elemental magnesium by weight — the rest is glycine. A label leading with the compound weight is describing the salt, not the mineral. Once you know that, most of the shelf reads differently.
What actually turns up
A sealed bottle, 90 capsules, and the batch certificate published online before you open it.

The batch certificate, published in full
Including a plain description of what the document covers and what it does not. We would rather show you the paperwork than describe it.
Every batch, on the site
Certificates of analysis for the magnesium raw materials are published with each batch — assay, elemental magnesium percentage, heavy metals and microbiological results, with the specification range printed beside every figure so you can see the margin rather than take a pass mark on trust.
Authorised claims only
These are the health claims permitted for magnesium on the GB register. We use those and nothing else — no invented benefits, no implied outcomes.
A food supplement is not a substitute for a varied, balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle. Individual results vary.
Three capsules. That’s the routine.
Three, in the evening
Three capsules is one full serving, taken with water. Splitting them across the evening is fine if you prefer.
Every day
Magnesium works on consistency, not timing. Daily intake matters far more than the hour you take it.
One bottle, one month
90 capsules, 30 servings. When the bottle is empty the month is up — no counting.
Answered honestly
Why three capsules instead of one?
Because chelated magnesium is bulky. Bisglycinate is roughly 14% elemental magnesium by weight and L-threonate is lower still, so 200 mg of actual magnesium across three forms needs 1,710 mg of raw material. That does not fit into one capsule. Products claiming a big magnesium number in a single small tablet are almost always using oxide.
What is L-threonate and why does it cost more?
Magnesium L-threonate was developed by researchers at MIT and is the only magnesium form specifically studied for crossing the blood-brain barrier. It is several times more expensive per gram than any other magnesium salt, which is why the overwhelming majority of supplements leave it out entirely.
Is this independently tested?
Not yet, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What we publish today is the manufacturer’s certificate of analysis for the magnesium raw material — batch-level testing to USP methods, issued by the producer’s QA department. Independent finished-product testing is the next step and it will be published here when we have it.
Will this upset my stomach?
All three forms are chelates chosen for tolerance, and there is no oxide or citrate in the formula. Some people are sensitive to any magnesium at any dose — if that is you, start with one capsule for the first few days and build up.
Why is it called NIGHT?
Because that is when we suggest taking it. It is a name for the slot in your day, not a claim about what it does. The permitted claims for magnesium are listed above and we have not gone beyond them.
Can I take it with other supplements?
Magnesium is generally taken alongside other supplements without issue. If you take prescription medication — particularly certain antibiotics, bisphosphonates or diuretics — check with your doctor or pharmacist, as magnesium can affect absorption.
How much magnesium should I be getting?
The EU nutrient reference value is 375 mg a day, most of which should come from food. One serving provides 200 mg, or 53% NRV — designed to top up a diet, not replace it.
